Just For A Day Wedding Planning and Consulting Services is a company that was founded in order to help couples, and their families, plan weddings and wedding related activities, so that the entire family and all the guests can enjoy not only the wedding day, but the other functions as well, such as the rehearsal dinner, the bridesmaids tea, and of course, the wedding dayand reception. Vernell Green, President of Just for A Day, found the need to provide even the smallest weddings with wedding planning and consulting services. The founder of the company has a large family, and time and time again, heard comments like "I wish I had hired somebody to help address these invitations", "I am so tired and want to get to bed, but we have to finish these bridesmaids bouquets, and I've run out of roses, what am I going to do, the wedding is in ten hours and I have to go get my hair done and my makeup," and "Oh gosh, the seamstress made the bridesmaids dresses like I ordered them, but the color and style are horrible. I wish I would have gotten something from the bridal shop, plus the seamstress was more expensive and I can't have my best friends and family put out the money for another dress."
Vernell Green also learned quickly that many so called "wedding planners" are really salesmen or saleswomen for their product, such as a photographer or florist and really had no knowledge past or beyond their particular product except to tell brides to look in the yellow pages to find a particular item or thing.
One of the wedding planner's most important tasks is to be the person with the third-party objectivity, allowing the planner to resolve conflicts while leaving everyone's feelings in tact. True Story Example: Instead of the mother of the bride trying to tell Aunt Bessie that she can't sit at the head table, the wedding planner is there to deliver the news that we love our aunt, but she is assigned to table 6. (It's okay to blame the wedding planner, thus feelings are not hurt.) Furthermore, with our busy schedules today, with families often in different parts of the country and even the world, and with many mothers working outside the home, little time is left for the bride's or groom's mother to carry out all the detailed tasks required to produce a wedding. Our business IS to manage the daily planning details allowing everyone to enjoy their participation in the planning, and to enjoy the wedding celebration. To date, we have successfully planned traditional, themed, large and small weddings. We have also consulted with couples regarding budgeting, etiquette, and multi-cultural wedding traditions.
